Workshop – ACCESS TO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Access for All (NGO Access), a non-profit organisation that supports the integration of disadvantaged people on the labor market, organized a workshop on „Developing self-marketing skills and increasing employment opportunities in the labor market of persons with disabilities”. The event was held on June 20th, 2011 at World Trade Center Bucharest, Pullman Hotel. This action was supported by the official partners: World Trade Center, Embassy of France in Romania, ANOFM Bucharest, bauMAX, Romastru Trading, Estuar Foundation, ESSEC Romania and Cora.
All activities were attended by representatives of the business and non-profit sectors, representatives of Central Authorities and a total of 35 persons with disabilities. This activity aimed at fostering partnership between employers and disabled people on increasing employment opportunities in the labor market.
The event consisted of two parts, as follows:
During the first part, a press conference was held during which general aspects of labor market integration for people with disabilities were presented, and also the current employment situation for this vulnerable group. In the second part, human resources specialists, professional consultants and recruiters held a workshop on developing self-marketing skills for the job interview. Those present watched a video of the testimony of a person who has overcome difficulties in his case, thereby benefiting from a positive social map.
The event was successful, the number of participants and their feedback demonstrating involvement and a real interest in supporting access to employment for people from disadvantaged social categories.
By its very mission and using of such events, NGO Access meets community needs to acknowledge the reality faced by disabled people seeking a job and being at risk of social exclusion from the labor market.
Sustainable jobs for everyone
There are fields in which we are not yet equal such as occupying available jobs. Millions of Romanian people still have difficulties in obtaining a job because of certain discriminating criteria: age, sex, status as disabled person etc.
